Nick went mad with the polisher today and made an awesome job
It lives, Fired it tonight and running tomorrow
8) 8) 8) 8)
Fired up OK, Just a couple of things to do then we hit the water..............
Hull looks good - total transformation - was this an economic option? hope you can load some video of the motor running - sure it will sound as good as it looks - Cheers
Ran it up on the trailer tonight......WOW, I ran it with the charger belt on but blowing into the air not the motor man these things blow some air 8O The whine of the charger is just cool!!. I will tune it on the trailer tomorrow and run the motor in with no boost..then its off the trailer for the rest of the tune and some more run in before we connect the intake pipe.
Ill get some vid as the sound is awesome
Ran the motor in on the trailer.....    This thing is going to FLY. Water test tomorrow (no supercharger)I am uploading a small vid
Here is a small taste
went for a huss with Nick and his new toy today, what a WEAPON! it just went fast and faster. no forced induction yet so when that hits look out. it has good character, if your willing to get the throttle hard down be prepared for it to stay there and come back only when its ready to. this happened a few times quite funny really.
i want one
We call the owner "mad nick" but this dude is not mad.....he just loves performance, and seeing his face when he came back from running the motor in is why I do this...He made my day....yes he is mad...but go hard or go home...and his girlfriend is hot!!!
Still smiling after yesterdays 2 hour run in. I am very happy with the boat. It feels well balanced, turns on a dime, and has plenty of power even without the supercharger. The engine has now had just over three hours running time so the next step is connecting the supercharger. My only concern over this project was that the boat would be a constant hand full, but after yesterdays run my fear has been allayed. It is very driver friendly so i look forward to the extra power.
Sounded very cool on the water.
I did the final run and check with the data logger today as tomorrow the belt gets put on and we feed this puppy some air......It is pulling 5460rpm on the 8.5 SDM600 unit with a lazy run in tune on 15deg impellers. The boat is doing just under 105km without the trim and pushing water.
Mad Nick has been on to Paxton and they have had a look at at this site and are keen to support us with info etc.....they think we are all mad but think the set up is good.
Mike
Ran it today for a data log run to start setting the fuel and checking the spark retard. WOW is all i can say......  More tomorrow
Mike, that's so unfair. :-(
My heart skips a beat every time I see the Mad Nick thread in white on the board.
I hurriedly opened it tonight expecting to be blown away and....
more promises.
You cant let us down tomorrow.
Cheers
Lack of pics sorry as camera batteries went flat when we went to video....But WOW we are getting the tune under control and Its unreal what this thing does at 4 lb of boost, Both Paxton (with motor specs) and Konrad Scott agree that the motor is producing 560 to 570HP, But the torque is unreal and is very linear, It is awesome to drive and will only get better as the tune is a very safe one, we have a couple of issues with the waste gate and dump valve that we need to get under control.....then its game on
Went out in it again....in the name of tuning   and we are getting closer to the desired boost but it looks like we have to get custom springs made, The motor had done 5.5 hrs now and HAULING!!!!. The power is so linier and you cant nail this thing from a standing start...cos it clears the water!!!
I think there will be many more hrs of tuning yet
Tuning again and we have the boost pressure under control at 4psi and this thing is an animal.....up loading on youtube now...I am in talks with the owner about a joint custody deal!!
Where? been checking youtube for last hour. You're not teasing are you Mike?
Its taking forever to upload!!...Ill try at work
Is there an update or youtube video on this.
One of the best threads there is.
Its not letting me upload them :( :(
Thats because your trying to post YOUR gay porn videos instead
I new you would be trouble!!!!!
Up date...We are in the process of changing the drive system on the supercharger as the belt and gears are not the correct ones and we blew a belt. The advice was wrong from the supplier even when we explained the set up!!!........VERY FRUSTRATING To Say the least, So with help from Paxton and Konrad Scott we are re designing the drive and mounting,
I will put up pics.
This system is soooooooo good im on the hunt for one for my motor
Does there need to be slip introduced (smooth belt) or could it be replaced with a chain.
Is it because anything that had a gearbox to spin up (overdrive) the turbine would have difficulty keeping up with a free revving engine like the one installed.
Please keep us informed and there MUST be some photos or something.
Here is a taste
One of the problems was that the backing plate on the motor and the way I mounted the charger ment that it was moving slightly, which wouldnt be a problem if we has a spring loaded adjuster (we didnt) And I was never happy with the toothed belt. So I am re mounting the charger and adding a spring loaded adjuster and machining the pulleys to take a serpentine belt. Its been a bit of a learning curve but its not something im charging for as I am keen to get this right as I firmly believe it is an awesome package and I get to drive it!!
All brackets will be bolted to prevent distortion.
