Yeah I am much happier with the mounting and drive, Its been interesting as I have had emails from people in the Automotive industry that have had similar issues when setting up a custom system so we have been able to help each other

Charger and intercooler are back in and I am working on plumbing the blow off valve back into the intake at the air filter as it is real noisy when it is dumping air....Pics tomorrow and It should be back into the water

All set up again and working sweet. Ran it for 20min at the ramp but have to wait for the river to go down to get off the trailer. But now the setup is smooth with the spring tensioner doing its job

I have started on the engine cover today and we are working with Paxton to sort an issue with the belt, The motor spins the charger up so fast that it is stripping belts, Its a bit different than in a car so its hard to find info but We spoke to Paxton on Sat and they agree with me that we need more belt surface...so we have sourced a wider belt and will give that a go, The guys at Paxton have been awesome with the backup and advice and are genuinely interested in what we are doing :-) We are sooooo close to getting this thing on song

Could you devise a pulley that is clutch (like a scooter) or spring loaded (like a watch) to take the shock out of blipping or revving the motor quickly. If you overcome the outside inertia issues, is it likely you may find yourself stripping gears inside.

Yeah....some slip is OK, Its why we went away from the tooth belt. We are sure it is a case of not enough area on the belt as we have tried extra tension.

my experience of this problem is.............
-your correct about spinning the blower up too quick for the belt to handle, not only that, but also when you drop off the throttle the engine will go from full revs to idle in a spit second(2 things that never happen in a car)
im not sure of your total blower overdrive but generally those blowers will be spinning at 50-80000 rpm ?? and it wont/cant decelerate fast enough and tends to tear the belt apart,i went through shitloads of belts and never really found a solution, an idler on the slack side of the belted helped alot though as under deceleration the blower is trying to spin the motor

the small toyota blowers have an electric clutch which may be able to be modified to fit(controlled via an rpm output on the ecu?)it could disengage the blower when you get off the throttle?
just out of interest, are you using the dump valve purley to regulate boost pressure rather than gearing the blower to a max boost setting?
im thinking that if this is the case and your running the blower way faster than need be ,then that will only add to the problem(not saying you are but ive seen it done !!)
good luck with it though and i hope you get it sussed!!

Thanks for the advice, the more ideas the better, I have the waste gate spring set at 4lb and is not connected to vac, We also have a blow off valve to dump air on decell to unload the charger but i think what you are saying is correct.
I work out that the turbine is spinning at 46000rpm when the motor is at 5500rpm.

What about a viscous cooling fan coupler used in cars and trucks.

    how about this.......................
place a second throttle body on the inlet side of the paxton.use a vaccum diaphram to operate the butterfly (like the one on the end of the vq30 inlet manifold),set it up so its normaly fully open, hook the vaccum line into the inlet manifold.
this will pull this throttle closed when it decelerates, and the vaccum it creates in the blower will decelerate the blower and take most of the strain off the belt.
you will need an air bleed hole in the butterfly to maintain idle air flow and a bleed valve in the vaccum line so it only operates under full vaccum, otherwise normal idle vaccum will pull the butterfly shut, which you dont want.
now for the problems..............doing this may unwind the nut on the turbine shaft, and the vaccum in the blower may pull oil past the seal/s?
i guess the best advice on this setup would have to come from paxton themselves....
i was also thinking a lexus throttle damper on the original throttle and a proggresive linkage may take some of the shock out of the acceleration/deceleration?

mostly this is just a bandaid solution and im sure a wider belt and some form of electomagnetic clutch combined with minimum possible blower overdrive is going to be required to fully fix it

    good luck

make sure pulleys are precision aligned, shaft centrelines parallel, use tolerance of say 0.025mm. you local v belt/bearing supplier may be able to lend you a v-belt laser aligner to do this.

OK, The latest is this, I have fitted a wider belt and made a wider idler out of 6061T alloy, I have also fitted a stop to the adjuster so that it cannot loosen under deceleration. Testing and pics tomorrow
