Thanks, Yes they are lifting hooks. We were cruising up the river at 2800rpm so at that sort of rpm the lexus should return around 16 lph or better, A small block chev doing the same thing would be reasonably economical as long as it was tuned correctly (most are not). But a carb cannot compete with fuel injection when it comes to throttle response and fuel economy

The guy that came for a test drive made a common comment that we get with the lexus on the southern jet 8.25 two stage, which was that he couldn't believe how good the lexus is when matched correctly with the jet, he made the comment that other boats that he had been in with the lexus felt very ordinary and he didnt rate the lexus much........until now. This guy has owned and driven a number of boats

great to see another one of ya boats on the water mike ,i like the rope holder on dash ,are they lifting hooks on the back? ,also just wanted to know how does a chev with same sort of horsepower as the lexus compare with fuel useage cheers

Here is a boat that we supplied hull/jet/seats and some bits and pieces as well as tuning the computer.

It is a short little boat but we kept the Chine width wide to make it a super load carrier, The owner is a professional hunter and needs a small boat with good load carrying ability.
The jet is the Southern jet 8.25" two stage with trim nozzle, motor is the ever reliable Toyota Lexus V8 with our manifolds.
I finished the tune today and managed 85km up stream and 92 down with myself and a full tank of gas. Awesome handling with ultra soft ride and slow planing abilities with precise handling at speed.
The Lexus is the perfect match to the Southern jet 8.25 two stage and pulls 5200rpm WOT and cruses at 3200rpm ( clean slow plane is 2400rpm) giving good top end punch

We did the tuning and set up of the motor with a good set of tuned headers, then we did a power run with the cast alloy marine manifolds and lost 40hp against the headers

Hi,
No chrome headers, Mike is going to supply ali high raise ones with a custom snigle centre outlet above the jet unit.Approx 200 x 50mm
Like a large letter box slot. Needs to be above the water line due to the big cam.
Full engine cover to keep the big water out.
Same wee Chev and 3 stage I ran before.
Just a little quieter and a few horse robbed with the exhaust.
Should go OK as not a lot of difference in hull wieght, but this one should trim out a little better.

Funny you should say that....we are doing a 3.1m for our jet ski gear using a cast alloy intake that we have sourced

Just thinking ahead,it's a worry I know!
Could the drawings be reduced to produce, say a 3.6m hull?
Thinking jet ski power.160 hp 4 stroke.

Looking good Mike.
The painter is going to love you.
With the use of full sheets I can already see a cup of bog is going to be too much when it comes to prepearing the hull.
Very cool.

Apart from having a passion for jet boating, I spent over 8 years in the earth moving industry carry out sub-division work, farm tracks, water race construction and repair and pretty much anything involving a digger and truck. After the first earthquake in September we thought that jet boating would not be a priority for most people trying to re-build their lives after the earthquakes, so we decided that rather than risk not having the work to sustain our workshop and staff that we would diversify into another field that I had experience in. In April we purchased our first truck, a Volvo F12 6 x 4 Tipper which pretty much went straight into work helping to carry out stop bank reconstruction. Then in October we had the opportunity to purchase a second truck which is a CH Mack 6 x 4 Tipper. We now have full time and part-time drivers and you are likely to see our purple trucks around Kaiapoi and the greater Christchurch area. We are available for bulk cartage, spreading, silage, subdivision work and also digger work available on request. We have reliable, experienced site safe approved drivers. If you need trucks Give Mike a call 0275 767 227 or email on hmrtrucking@yahoo.co.nz

No but thats a good idea, The main engine bearers just slot in with no trimming. then the top sides and then the top deck, it really is great how it all fits together. pic of the template that marks where the screen sits prior to welding. All the welding is done up the front before the deck goes on.

Thanks Mike.
Did you cut the deck frames out like the jig so they all sloted together?
Would make it easey for the home builder if it all could be put in place, support it self and then be tacked.
Its coming together nicely.
